Reflection on Bridge to Bridge
By Larry Parkins

As I look back on the ride up to Grandfather's Mountain from Lenoir, I am still excited that I had a chance to share in this endeavor. I had the chance to share this experience with my fellow riders in Kingsport, Tenn. Days have now gone by and we are still sharing our experiences with each other. Things that stand out in my mind was the enthusiasm of the local people. The people were standing on the sides of the road cheering us on as we went by. The senior citizens were at the rest stops cheering us on and handing out water and food as we went by. The local law enforcement went out of their way to insure our safety throughout the ride. It was probably the most gratifying century ride I have ever ridden. You can look back and realize a great sense of achievement. I remember looking down on Rick Heppert one of my fellow riders climbing the last hill to the finish line and was excited to see him finish. It will be an experience I will never forget and was grateful to have had the chance to ride the event.
